New Colors

We have added 10 new colors to our website items!!!  The new colors are: Acid Purple, Blue Rain, Copper Head, Cotton Candy, Emerald Green, Orange You Happy, Phoenix Sunrise, Plum Crazy, Strawberry Fields, and Wadda Melon.

Acid Purple - More vibrant and deeper than the traditional purple.

Blue Rain - A blend of dark blues and black make for a color that resembles stormy skies.

Copper Head - Similar to the desert camouflage the deadly snake uses to ambush it's prey.

Cotton Candy - Pink and light blue resemble the tasty sugar loaded treat.

Emerald Green - The pictures don't do this deep, rich green justice.

Orange You Happy - The perfect Halloween color scheme.

Phoenix Sunrise - If the city had an official paracord color combo this would be it, a blend of color that captures the style of the south west USA.

Plum Crazy - Mardi Gras, 'nuf said.

Strawberry Fields - Strawberry red blended with white.

Wadda Melon - The name says it all, but think watermelon bubble gum.

New Build Your Own EDC Program

The New Year has brought changes to Rescue Bands in the form of the “Build Your Own EDC” program.

How does it work?

Simple, instead of having us decide what goes on your EDC you get to choose.  We stripped down our EDC to the bare minimum- Aviation Key Ring, S-Biner, and 3.5’ of 550 lb parachute cord.  We also slashed the price (by 50%!!!).  We still offer all of the same tools but now you can buy them separately, don’t want the mini crowbar but still want the peanut lighter?  No problem, just select that option like you’d pick your paracord color.

Why is this better?

For one, the price is now only $19.99!  That is a significant drop from the previous $39.99 price tag they used to carry.  On top of that you can now have a super useful, slim and trim EDC with the screwdriver combo and still be under $30 or you can max your EDC out and have all of the goodies on one key ring!  To sum it up, it’s better because it makes our EDC offering flexible, so you can have an EDC as unique as you are.

Not All Paracord is Created Equal

In recent years the parachute cord industry has exploded, there are more producers than ever before and they are bringing new colors and patterns to the market than ever before.  What was once just a military utility item available in Olive Drab, Black, and White has now become something of a fashion statement.  Now parachute cord is available by the spool and in colors like “Neon Green” and “Overkill” but is this new paracord all it’s cracked up to be?

The reality of the situation is that paracord is a name that can be put on any rope or cordage and unless you are getting your supply from a trusted company you could be getting fooled.  Rescue Bands only buys from US suppliers of 550 paracord and all of our cord is tensile tested to ensure that it is up to par with what we expect and advertise.  Some cord however comes out of places like China or India (What?  Companies buy items from China and India for a lower price regardless of quality?  Crazy huh?).  There are no repercussions for mislabeling spools of cord to sell off as 550 parachute cord when your across the ocean and a few governments away from the consumer.

The only real way to tell is to have the cord tensile tested by a machine that specializes in tensile testing.  This isn't really something that most consumers have access to.  The best solution to someone looking to buy a parachute cord product is to make sure whoever is selling you your survival band/strap/bracelet is getting their product from a reliable source that has done the proper testing.
